What Comes NEX After 3?...

What Comes NEX After 3?...

Why 5 of course....like the NEX-5....LOL

As many of you know, last month I picked up a Sony NEX-3 and I LOVE it!

Well, last week SonyStyle Canada offered an incredible deal to employees of companies that retail Sony Cameras and of course...I qualify...whooot!

So...I ordered the Black NEX-5 w/ 18-55mm Lens (pictured above) and as the deal was soooo sweet, I will be upgrading from the NEX-3 and I actually saved a nice chunk of cash in the process ;-)

It should arrive this week and I'm so excited all over again!

The key differences in the 5 over the 3 are:

AVHCD Video (compared to HD MP4 in the 3)
3D Panorama (although Sony gave this to the 3 as well in a recent firmware update)
Even smaller Magnesium Alloy Body (the 3 is plastic), better grip design and lighter weight.
Remote CDR (Not available on the 3)

If you visit a camera store...I really suggest you look this camera over...it truly is a sweet camera, and will surprise you with it's features and capabilities for being so compact and yet it holds an Exmor APS HD CMOS Sensor inside.

It's not Micro 4/3rds like so many people seem to think it is!

Yana...

This morning I had a photoshoot with the very beautiful Yana from Model Mayhem.

The rain delayed our original 8:00am start, so we rescheduled for 10:00am and dealt with the harsh light, then back to cloudy, then to hard light again..as well as some brisk winds.

But..we got it done and did what we could and I'll be posting more as I get through them all ;-)

Thanks Yana, for being such a great model (as you are pretty new at this) and I hope we work again together soon ;-)

Allison & I teamed up for our second photoshoot together this morning.

Allison wanted to do an all b&w shoot, and I decided to play on the concept using different and hopefully subtle enough over-exposure attempts to combat the grey dull day and the rain!

The rain was not going to leave us alone, and it started pouring just as we arrived on the "set".

Allison & I decided to venture on...and we made the best of the dismal off and then on again rain and managed a decent shoot together.

Bravo to Allison..it was not exactly warm this morning, and she even set foot in the cold water of the lake and tempered the cold raindrops coming down on her from time to time.

Vivitar Auto 21mm f/3.8 Wide-Angle Prime...

Today I went to the Henry's Imaging Show with my friend Marty Lang

We had a great time walking around and chatting and also bumped into Marty Pinker while we were there!

So we cruised around and took in the show together and I enjoyed their company as always ;-)

Thanks Marty & Marty for a fun time out ;-)

We decided to hit the clearance area of the show, and as I was browsing the bins of old lenses, I found this beautiful Vivitar 21mm in really great shape!

I picked it up for $20.00. It even has a 72mm glass filter included...LOL

Today, I had a photoshoot with Jema...an new model with Model Mayhem.

We worked outdoors, in the wind and the harsher light of mid-day as per her availability, but she did well, and I think we did well together and got some nice shots for her portfolio!

No More Bullets In The Gun...

So...you stay awake...and you actually feel a lot! I have a high tolerance for pain, but this was borderline!!!

I had a Vasectomy yesterday! Had I of known before what it was going to be like, I probably would have said..."No Thanks"! Now I know I had a very good Dr. performing the procedure, so I'm not laying blame on him.  I really think I am a person with a high resiliancy to local anesthetic, even a trip to the dentist requires more than the average person requires, sometimes I even pass on it as I hate the feeling of freezing as it diminishes and I bank on my high pain resistance.

During the procedure, I had three injections and could still feel just about everyhting that was going on down there.

I felt the incision, and while not overly painful, I know it happened.  Then there was this amazing pain and pressure as my plumbing was brought outside of my slit skin, it was almost unbearable.  I could not help but tense up in pain and let out an almighty..OMG!!!

The Dr. was very suprised I could feel as much as I could, so that was when he gave me a second dose of local.  He asked me if I could feel him touching me in spots and the answer was yes, when it should have been no.  The pain was and discomfort was more than I expected....WOW.  I started to sweat profusely as I lay on the table, I felt like I was going to faint, so the nurse placed a cold towel on my forhead and administerd some oxygen to me.  I mangaged to stay concious but urged the Doc to please hurry the hell up!

When the Doc got to the left side, the pressure was equal as my pipes were brought out to be worked on.  WOW...I have never felt anything like it.  It was sickening to say the least.  When the Doc used the tool to cauterize the tubes, I actually felt the shock run through me and I jumped a little.  Again, the Doc as very surprised that I could feel it, as I should not have been able to feel anything for having now had three doses of local anesthetic.

Well anyway..I made it through, it was more than I bargained for and I never thought I would feel so much of it, but it's over and done with, and all one can hope is that he did it right, because I won't be staying awake for round 2!!

Now to just get through the next couple of days taking it easy and enjoying the cool sensation to be found in a bag of frozen peas, and catching up on some reading and photo editing.

I met up with Tracey yesterday to deliver the images that I took on our first session, and we made plans to do another shoot as well since I was there.

Tracey is such an engaging person...her personality is endless, and she is obviously a very beautiful woman and a real delight to photograph.

Tracey e-mailed me last night with a really cool idea for a shoot and while I'm not gonna tell you what it is, I'm really looking forward to it and I will share the pictures after the shoot ;-)

Today was a photoshoot day with Tracey.

Tracey is friend of mine and she really wanted to try doing some modeling with me. This is her first time doing a shoot, and I was only too happy to oblige such a lovely looking woman.

The concept was pretty simple:

100% natural light for every shot.
One Lens - 50mm f/1.8
Minimal make-up and natural hair
3 hours for different settings/poses and outfits!

We started out with some basic portraits etc. and then moved along to something more sensual and creative. Tracey was phenomanal...I just could not believe how much of a natural she was at posing and expression.

Such a wonderful delight to work with, a great friend to have, and she has graciously allowed me to post further pictures. Please stay tuned..they are converting from RAW as I type this.

I'm Not Cheap...

I'm Not Cheap...
I'm Not Cheap...,
originally uploaded by Richard_Miles.
It's gonna cost me more to get the film developed than I paid for the camera....LOL

I popped into VV Boutique today (Value Village) to see if there were any good deals on the old cameras I often like to look at, and often buy...LOL

Not much to speak of, but they did have this black pre-loaded 35mm disposable beauty!

Seriously folks........Look At It...it even has a contoured grip.....AND a flash....Whoohoo!

They wanted $1.99 for it, but I made an attempt to haggle them down on the fact that somebody took the paper cover off of it and now I don't even know what the heck kind of camera it is.....HAHAHAHAHAHA (Like I care....LOL)

So the lady said..."Well...what's it worth to you?"...I replied " I'll give you 25 cents for it!"

She hummed for a second..kind of looked at me funny...I smiled and winked....she blushed and I got the camera for 25 cents.....Bwahahahahahahahaha

Charm...it goes a long way sometimes ;-)
